SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Prizewinner at competitions such as the Enrico Mainardi in Salzburg, the FNAPEC in Paris and the Bacewicz in Lodz, in 2019 Lucas was awarded by the São Paulo State Government for his achievements as one of the most outstanding young musicians from Brazil.
He has performed in over 20 countries worldwide, including Canada, the United States, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Argentina and Uruguay, as well as at festivals across Europe.
He gave his debut as soloist performing Haydn’s C Major Concerto during the European Tour of the Japan Youth Orchestra, with concerts at the Musikverein in Vienna and the Danube Palace in Budapest.
He is Artistic Director of the apARTE Festival in Rio de Janeiro, founding member of the Trio Callas and guest player of the Camerata Salzburg.
Born in the countryside of São Paulo, Lucas moved to Tokyo with his family at the age of one, where he began his first cello lessons.
He currently lives in Europe and studies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under the guidance of Enrico Bronzi.
He was the last student of Antonio Meneses, and has also been mentored by musicians such as Mischa Maisky, Sol Gabetta, Steven Isserlis, Pieter Wispelwey, Miklós Perényi, Frans Helmerson, Jens Peter Maintz, Jérôme Pernoo, Julian Steckel, Rainer Schmidt and Thomas Riebl.
