SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Reinis is a laureate of many international and local competitions, such as winning 1st place in the Latvian State Competition for String Instruments – Cello twice (in 2018 and 2023). In 2018, he won 1st place and a special prize at the IX International Young Musicians Competition – VIVA LA MUSICA. He received the Grand Prix at the International Talent Center Competition – RISING STARS in 2019. At the Jan Sibelius 7th International Instrumental Music Competition in Finland in 2019, he won the main prize – YOUNG TALENTS – in the age group of 12-16 years. He participated in the Riga Ball in 2019, where he received a new cello as a gift with the involvement of the Children's Fund, and also performed with the new cello at the Riga Ball in 2020. At the 25th International Bohdan Warchal String Instrument Competition in Dolný Kubín, Slovakia, he won 2nd place. At the 16th International Jan Vichitil Cello Competition in Prague, he won 1st place. At the VIII International Music Competition Agustin Aponte in 2023 in Spain – Tenerife, he won 3rd place and a special prize for the best performance by a participant under 17 years old. In 2023, he received the Ministry of Culture’s Award for achievements in international competitions. In 2024, at the Valdis Vikmanis Latvian Young Performers Competition, he won 3rd place and the opportunity to perform at the final concert with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra.
